This is what I'm excited about!

Bill Medley will be speaking on Christian Apologetics (defending the faith) and covering such topics as:
  • How do you know there is a God?
  • How do you know Christ is His Son?
  • Why would a good God allow bad things to happen?
  • Why are there so many different religions?

Wedding...and trip plans

So, Liberty is getting married!  In October!  To Isaac.  Let's all get excited!  In any case, there is a lot to be done between now and October...even more so for Liberty and Isaac who have to figure out how they are going to cohabitate when one barracks for Carlton and the other.........not sure if Isaac watches football...awkward.

In other October news, I'm trying to plan to visit Korea.  I have conquered the first hurdle by taking Korean language classes.  I started the classes mainly for the short term benefits - it helps me in my relationships with the girls in my house and also with people at Church.  It'll also help me when I travel.  I'm not sure if there are any longer term benefits, but I'm sure God will use it somehow.  I can now read and write in Korean...I can't understand any of it, but it's a step in the right direction!

So, while no flights are yet to be booked, I am hoping to go away around the 13th October (a few days after the wedding, after all the celebrations are over), and stay for a few weeks.  I also plan to pop over to Japan for a week after Korea, just to check it out.

While I'm in Korea I'd love to visit my dear Chum, Amy, and spend some time with her and her family.  I would also like to visit Daryl and see what he is doing in his missionary work.  Then I'd like to spend some time in Seoul, catching up with Crispy and other old friends from Canterbury.  I'd also like to visit as many different Churches as possible.

In Japan, I'd like to visit Yutaka and he is going to take me to Disneyland...:)  And I'd also like to visit Michael Oh at his Theological College, but I'd probably be too shy!!

Anyway, I'm praying it will all come together.  Next step, book flights!  (This is quite a complicated procedure because I have to find the right time after all my commitments here are finished, and once all our family goes home after the wedding.  But it can't be too late otherwise I won't be able to stay long overseas.....ahhhhhh)

Head first!

So...I got hit in the head by another head.

Let's be frank - our soccer team is having a miserable season - in terms of results.  We're having a great time together though.  We played well on the weekend - with only 11 players (no subs).  We were just into the second half, when I went up for the header, and heard a crunch when I realised my opponent's head had smashed right into mine.

There were some immediate side effects:
- I was on the ground
- There may or may not have been some tears involved
- There was a lot of frustration
- And I think some water or ice was present at some point

And there were some other side effects that took some time to appear:
- When our goalie put the ball over the line and the ref called a corner, I ran down the field and grabbed the ball.  As I prepared to take the corner, James (who was running our lines) said, "What are you doing," to which I calmly  responded, "Oh, I take the corners for our team."  He looked at me strangely and said, "Joy, it's not your team!"  How you can recover from that awkward moment, I'm not sure - I think I mumbled something about being hit on the head, and ran off to my position.

And there are the delayed side effects of the large bump on the left side of my head.  While it has been said that there is a bruise, others can't seem to notice.  But, whatever it looks like, it certainly hurts.

I did consult my GP, Jacki (not a real GP yet) who confidently asked me, "So, when did the pain start?" "Uh, when I hit my head."

So all in all, a good story, a good bump!

Michael's Visit 2

On Good Friday, we spent some time as a family up Mt. Dandenong and took the opportunity to take some family photos.  It was a really beautiful afternoon (even if it was only 11 degrees up there), so it's nice to have some really special family photos.  Enjoy!
